Seven steps

How a job runs, in seven steps.

The same steps on every job, so you always know what happens next and who to call.

A window opening with French doors, wrapped in unpainted trim.

Step 1 of 7

A site visit with the owner.

Young comes to your home, walks the space, looks at what is there and listens to what you want. The visit is free. If the job needs detailed design and planning, that is a separate, paid step, and its fee is credited to your project if you go ahead.

A staircase with a plain wood stringer beneath a white trimmed ceiling.

Step 2 of 7

A written scope, a fixed price and a schedule.

You get the work, the materials, the price, the payment schedule and the dates in writing before anything starts. Young looks at the job before he prices it; a rough guess is not fair to you or to him.

A cream built-in wall unit with glass shelves, arched trim, a television and a fireplace with carved pilasters, in a living room with a grey sofa, a glass coffee table and a dark wood floor.

Step 3 of 7

The owner on site every day.

Young is on site himself and deals with you from start to finish. One person plans, runs and answers for the job.

The framing of a curved stair seen from above, on a plywood floor.

Step 4 of 7

A walkthrough of the work behind the walls.

Before walls and floors are closed, Young shows you what is inside them: the framing, the cement board, what was found and what was done about it.

A shower wall in blue cement board with a framed niche opening.

Step 5 of 7

A clean site, every day.

The site is cleaned daily. Floors and furniture are protected.

A slab of dark stone laid on a kitchen island frame, with a sink cut-out.

Step 6 of 7

A final walkthrough, and the photo record.

At the end, you and Young go through the finished work together. You also receive the photo record of the work behind the walls.

A white built-in wall of shelves and cabinets around a wall-mounted television and a lit gas fireplace, with books and vases on the shelves, over a dark wood floor.

Step 7 of 7

A check-in after a year.

About a year after we finish, Young checks in with you.

A tray ceiling with a ceiling medallion and a lantern-style pendant light.

Start with a site visit.

Young comes to your home, looks at the job and listens. The visit is free. You leave knowing what the next step is.
